Our UKATA registered category ‘C’ Licensable Asbestos Removal New Asbestos Operative course is for those candidates who are looking to join one of the HSE licensed asbestos removal companies making this there chosen career, or for those candidates who left the industry, have been away for longer than 6 months and are looking to return.

Aims Whose this course for?

To ensure that all operatives whether new or returning to the industry have the knowledge and hands on experience to build upon, enabling them to work safely and within the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Course objectives

Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, requires employers to ensure that any employee is given the correct information, instruction and training.

Asbestos is a class 1 carcinogen and requires the most carefully controlled handling and stringent controls to be in place to ensure its correct disposal and ultimate disposal.

The regulations require the candidates to undertake substantial asbestos awareness training, to ensure that these stringent controls are not only understood but are effectively put into place.

The regulations clearly make reference to specific guidance ‘HSG 247; Asbestos: The licensed contractors’ guide’ which forms the syllabus for this licensed asbestos removal contractor training. Chapter 4 of the guide details all the theory and practical  modules that have to be covered as part of the required training course and can be view opposite by clicking on the appropriate link.

Assessment

Upon completion of the course the candidate will be required to demonstrate their competency by undertaking a two part assessment consisting of a multi choice exam requiring an 80% or higher pass mark, designed to test the candidates knowledge and a practical assessment including full decontamination procedures using a fully set up decontamination unit, correct transiting procedures and full RPE inspection and fit checks.
